Surrender a Dog

Volunteer

I found a lost Golden, what now...

If you have found a Golden Retriever who has an EGRR ID tag, please put the dog in a secure location, call our message line 206-286-5900 and send us an e-mail with:

  • the EGRR ID tag number,

  • your address,

  • and phone number so that we can contact you.

If you are unable to hold the dog, please take him to the nearest veterinary clinic and ask if they can board him or take him to your local animal shelter. Let us know where you took him and we will follow up with them while we find the owner. Since we are all volunteers, it may be several hours or longer before someone returns your call.

If you have found a dog without any visible identification you have several options. You can turn him over to your local shelter and they will take responsibility for him. Should they not find his owner, they will put him up for adoption and one of our shelter checkers will be notified. You can also take him to the nearest vet to be scanned for a microchip in the hope that you can find his owner. If you choose to hold him yourself rather than turn him over to the shelter, you will need to notify your local shelter as there are certain things that you need to do and a certain length of time you will need to hold him before he is legally your dog. EGRR does not take in stray or found dogs unless they have been released by the shelter to us.

If we currently have a dog looking for it's owner, go to our "Lost and Found area" by clicking here.
